Sorry im a little confused. Is it to late to apply for batch 'c' i've just re-new my 9ja passport and looking to leave for Abuja asap.
ReplyDeleteGo now. Registration ends October 5th.
Deletewhich one is priliminary printout and what is the essesnce of callup numbers
ReplyDeleteAll you need to worry about is Registration. They'll inform you when to pick up your call-up letter. And then you'll head off to camp for 3 weeks. The rest of the table is for NYSC official purposes.
DeleteOh and the call up letter has your NYSC number and tells you what state you're posted to.
DeleteBefore we receive the callup letter, wld we have known where we are being posted to?
ReplyDeleteNnnnnnnnnnnnnnnope. Think of getting your call-up letter as opening an award ceremony envelope... And Anonymous is posted to...*drum roll*............_______ State!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeletePlease I want to find out if it's possible for me to take a break during my service year, let's say like 2 weeks,so as to travel. Is this allowed? Also, is it possible for me to cut my service short and leave around August or September to go to graduate school, then maybe come back later for the certificate? Then I would also like to know what the last month of the service year is usually like, I heard there's no work during the last month.
Please can you brief us about your last weeks of nysc so we can have an idea too?
Thanks so much and well done
I forgot to add, I'd be starting with batch c in november. Thanks
DeleteHiya!
DeleteSo, taking a break during the service year is frowned upon, but not impossible. NYSC allows 7 days of casual leave but you have to apply for it through your Local Government Inspector > Zonal Director > State Coordinator, in that order. If you wish to leave the country (usually based on extreme needs, such as medical reasons), the application would also have to be approved by the Director General in Abuja.
That said, unfortunately, Nigeria isn't the best country to follow proper procedure and you end up being frustrated and wanting to shoot somebody. So, if you have a good relationship with your immediate supervisor, you can ask for time off and leave - hoping they won't report to HR or NYSC. Just be sure that you're not missing anything important NYSC-wise.
In addition, cutting your service short is NOT recommended, but it's something you can play by ear. The problem is you have to be physically present to do your final clearance and pick up your certificate. Now, being in Nigeria, there are ways to work around it - but I wouldn't know myself.
I'll put a post up on the last few weeks of service today so you know what it's like.
Pls can u enlighten us on the basic things we will need in three weeks orientation like how many photocopies of our results, how many passport photographs we will need because I heard that everything is gold in campground
